The great and beloved Hungarian Basso died before his time today at the age of 63 - a still underrated singer, and a very fine man. Above he's singing the great soliloquy of King Phillip from Verdi's Don Carlo with someone who looks and interprets vaguely like Georg Solti in the pit (though Solti was clearly dead by the time this was taken). Polgar is amazing here, and the audience agrees so fervently that they start rhythmic clapping at the end.
